Crete's four destricts

From the west to the east

Chania: Located in the west of the island, Chania is known for its picturesque old town with Venetian harbour, beautiful beaches such as Balos and Elafonissi and the impressive Samaria Gorge. The region combines natural wonders with a rich history and offers a variety of activities for visitors.

Rethymno: This central region stands out for its well-preserved Venetian architecture and the imposing Fortezza, a fortress overlooking the sea. The endless beaches, traditional villages and rich cultural heritage make Rethymno a favourite destination for culture and nature lovers.

Heraklion: As the economic centre of Crete, Heraklion is home to the island's capital and the famous Palace of Knossos, a relic of the Minoan civilisation. In addition to historical sites, the region offers lively markets, modern shopping facilities and beautiful beaches such as Amoudara.

Lasithi: Located in the east of Crete, Lasithi is known for its picturesque bays, the luxurious Elounda and the remote island of Spinalonga. The region offers a tranquil atmosphere, beautiful beaches and sights such as the Cave of Zeus on Mount Dikti. Lasithi is ideal for travellers looking for relaxation and nature away from the tourist crowds.
